“My family name “Eijck” is Dutch for “oak”. The oak tree has a special way of perceiving day and night. It is capable of only seeing the red light in the color spectrum that is part of the dawn. With this, the oak measures the hours of sun and uses this as its source of nutrition. The story of Aurora, ‘the morning red’, is a symbol for the inspiration that fed me to become the “Eijck” that I am. This inspiration flowed from Scandinavian music, melodic jazz, classical music and free improvisation.”
